Airport
Nice is the largest destination for international business travellers in France after Paris. Travelling from the Airport
By Hotel Shuttle Bus- many of the Nice hotels have a free shuttle bus service to and from the airport on request – please contact your hotel for further details.
By Taxi– the Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport is 7 km from the city centre and the journey to the Acropolis Convention Centre takes approx. 15 minutes. Taxis are located outside both Terminals 1 and 2. The current fare is approx. Euro 25 – 30 to the City Centre. By Bus– there is a regular express bus service from the airport to the city centre on Line 98 to Riquier or Line 99 to the Nice Ville SNCF railway station. Line 98 runs along the Promenade des Anglais past the hotels via the Port and terminating at Riquier. The fare is Euro 4.- for a 1-day Pass which can be obtained on board the buses or in Lignes d'Azur agencies. In addition, this ticket enables you to travel across the entire network for one day, without any restrictions. To return to the airport, buses leave from the Nice Ville SNCF railway station every 30 minutes and Riquier every 20 minutes. Again, the Euro 4.- fare for the 1-day pass applies. Climate
Nice has a mediterranean climate and the average temperature in May is around 19º Celsius / 67º Farenheit.
Local Time
From the end of March until the end of October, French time changes from GMT+1 to GMT+2 (GMT = Greenwich Meridian Time).
Language
Nice is the second-largest city in France and the language spoken is French.
The language of the Conference is English, and simulataneous translation into French will be available.
Currency
The official currency of France is the Euro € and 100 centimos = 1 Euro.
Major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, shops and restaurants. Shopkeepers often state a minimum amount required to be spent. Currency exchanges can be made at hotels, banks or post offices. Banks in Nice are usually open from 10am to 1pm, and 3pm to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
Electricity
European type 2 pin sockets with 220 volts AC at 50 cycles.
Shopping
Shops in Nice are usually open Monday to Saturday from approx. 10am to 7pm, some still close for lunch. Most shops are closed on Sunday.
